God Promised a Redeemer

lamb1.jpgI pray for you every day. My prayer and desire is that you would know God and have an intimate relationship with Him thorough Jesus Christ. Nothing is more important in life.

Let’s look at Genesis 3. The serpent is Satan and he tries to get Eve to doubt God by questioning what God had said. “Indeed, has God said….?” That means, “Did God really say that? Hmmm?” He twisted God’s word, and tempted her with the idea that she would “be like God”. This appealed to her pride, didn’t it? Satan’s sin against God was pride. He wanted to be like God; in fact he wanted to be God. Satan’s relationship with God was severed, as God judged him. Now Satan wanted to do what he could to destroy the relationship man had with God! He tempted them to have the sins of pride, unbelief and disobedience. Eve was deceived because she believed Satan’s lie. Adam disobeyed God’s Word as well. Then they were not innocent any more. They knew they were guilty. They hid from God. Their intimate spiritual friendship with God was broken.

Everything was affected by man’s first sin against God. Adam and Eve got kicked out of Eden! But God promised, even way back then, that He would send a Redeemer: someone who would destroy the curse of sin, death, and spiritual separation from God. A redeemer is a savior. In v. 15, when God says, “He shall bruise you on the head”, that is God promising Satan that His Redeemer will crush him. God fulfilled this promise with the death of Christ on the cross, in which Christ’s death and resurrection redeemed sinners, defeating Satan’s hold on those redeemed and freed by Christ.

Another interesting thing in this chapter is that in v. 21, we see that God made garments of skin for Adam and Eve (their fig leaves didn’t cut it!) and by this we see that God requires “shed blood” to satisfactorily cover those who will be redeemed by Him. So God restored their relationship with Him, based on the promise of a future redeemer to come. God is so good to lovingly provide, Himself, what Adam and Eve needed. They could not cover(their sin) themselves, only God could do that.

“And the LORD God made garments of skin for Adam and his wife, and clothed them.” Gen.3:21.

God Created Heaven & Earth

earth2.jpgThere’s so much I want to share with you. I’m going to go through the Bible, reviewing or teaching you some basic things which are so important for you to know. Along the way, I will add various things which I hope will equip, teach and encourage you.

Let’s start at the beginning. Look at Genesis 1 & 2. God spoke everything into being. (It says He made man from dirt, and He made woman from man.) He created light, day, night, the atmosphere, the heavens (the universe), water, the earth, plants, stars, seasons, the sun, the moon, fish, birds, land animals, and man. He created them male and female and He blessed them. So God created men and women, marriage, sex and family.

He commanded the man, telling him not to eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil; “for in the day you eat from it you shall surely die”. At this point Adam and Eve were innocent and they had a relationship with God, their Creator.

“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” Gen.1:1.
