God promised Noah in Genesis 9 that He would never again judge the world by a flood of water. The sign of this promise which He made to Noah (and all of us) is the rainbow. Now if you go up to The City, you will find huge rainbow flags flying over many neighborhoods, and atop important buildings. They have used the rainbow to symbolize something quite different. They have stolen the symbol of the rainbow and have given it a wrong meaning. A meaning, in fact, that is intended to be purposely rebellious against God. But we know what the rainbow really means: it is God’s promise to Noah.
Another interesting thing the rainbow makes you think about, is that God did not say that He would never again judge the earth. He just promised that He would never again judge the earth with a flood of water. Reading the rest of the Bible, we know that God will indeed judge the earth again, just not by water. And another important thing to know is that God always keeps His promises. This fact is both a warning to the wicked, and a comfort to God’s children.
“And God said to Noah, “This is the sign of the covenant which I have established between Me and all flesh that is on the earth.”" Gen.9:17.
